Service Dogs

Fly free in passenger cabin. Must remain at handler's feet or under the seat. Requires submission of official federal DOT Air Transportation forms 48 hours prior to flight departure.

Emotional Support Animals

Not recognized as service animals under current airline guidelines. Treated strictly as standard household companions subject to standard $150 cabin fees, sizing checks, and early booking limits.

Working K9s

Military PCS Orders: Active-duty U.S. Military and State Department personnel traveling on official PCS assignments are granted exclusive exemptions to transport household dogs/cats as checked cargo.

Flight Limitations & Seasonal Caps

Strict equipment caps apply. On Boeing 737 MAX 9 routes, carrier height must not exceed 10 inches due to under-seat space limits. Multi-pet carriers are banned, and in-cabin pet reservations cannot be managed via the United mobile app.
